Why Cleanergies

There are two answers to the “why” question. The first is why Clean Energy as a whole? And the second is, why Cleanergies to provide that? We’ll answer both here.

Why Clean Energy

In short, Clean Energy is good for Tanzania and Tanzanians.

Currently, the Tanzanian people largely depend on firewood, charcoal, kerosene, electricity, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking, heating, and cooling.

These forms of energy are catastrophically bad for trees and the rest of the natural environment. But the main drawback is how harmful they are to an individual’s health. In plain terms, it’s at crisis-level in Tanzania.

In a 2015 environmental study by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that household air pollution causes over 4.3 million premature deaths annually (worldwide), predominantly due to stroke, ischaemic heart disease, chronic respiratory disease, and childhood pneumonia. In Tanzania, thousands of people – mostly women and children – die annually directly due to complications and conditions from these “dirty” fuels used in cooking.

Tomorrow's Innovation Secured Today

The good news is Tanzania has enormous reserves of clean-burning natural gas estimated at over 57 trillion cubic feet – and is starting to use this resource domestically more and more. Tanzania has begun the roll out of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a key transport fuel as part of the government's strategy to gradually wean the nation off the high-sulfur gasoline it normally runs its cars on.

This is an excellent step in the right direction, but it needs to go further, and it needs to reach businesses, homes, and kitchens in every corner of Tanzania. Further, it cannot wait. Individual institutions, businesses, mines, and locales need to do this now. The health benefits are immeasurable, and in another stroke of good news, CNG is cost effective as well.

It’s simply a matter of making the switch. And that’s exactly where Cleanergies comes in.

Why Cleanergies

Switching to CNG may seem complicated at first, but if you have the right partner, it can be surprisingly easy and straightforward. So, what makes the right partner?

Experience across all phases of the oil and gas industry, from the ground to compression to transporting to decanting to end use. The ability to quickly procure needed machinery, pipes, parts, vehicles, and storage facilities from anywhere in the world. Plus, actual end-use appliances such as stoves, heaters, generators, etc. Access to skilled, experienced engineers and labor to make any installation and/or retrofit possible.

A reliable supply chain and storage that never runs dry. The ability to organize and manage all of the above.

Cleanergies checks every box. Our sister company is Petrogas Field Services Limited, which has long been one of the leaders in the Tanzanian and global energy sectors. With offices in Dar es Salaam and Washington DC, and global partnerships in North America, Europe, Asia, Petrogas has been involved in every aspect of Tanzanian oil and gas efforts, Downstream, Upstream, and Midstream. We explore, we build, and we fuel.

Cleanergies represents the focus on Clean Energy by combining the two words into a stand-alone entity. With the expertise already in place, and long-established partnerships with global energy experts, Cleanergies is well-equipped to shepherd Tanzania into a new, clean-energy future.
